A font of knowledge, he was generous with that knowledge, seeing everyday as an opportunity to learn abut the world around us and share what he knew. He loved teaching his students and he was so proud when they achieved beyond their own expectations.
He was diagnosed with Stage 1V advanced Pancreatic Cancer and survived it for 15 months. We made new memories with our children and grandchildren and our wider family and friends throughout 2023, including a fabulous summer party in our garden, and he lived beyond the average survival time of a year. We set milestones - one of which was to reach our 40th wedding anniversary together, which we did in January.
Steve was stoical from the outset, including through every session of the 6 months of chemotherapy he had at The Christie. But this cancer is cruel, and we need to find ways of getting to it earlier, and ameliorating the suffering it brings.
